Name: Harvey Finevoice
Canon: Atop the Fourth Wall
OU/AU/OC: AU; memories from

Canon Point: The beginning of November, 2012
History: Not much is known about Harvey's history, but what is known is fairly tragic. He's certainly a fairly well-known singer, having performed on stage with the likes of Dean Martin, and at the height of his career he had a wife and son. Sadly, Charlie Finevoice died at a young age of unknown causes. Harvey was completely shattered by this loss; he stopped working and began drinking to excess, spending many hours simply standing outside the cemetery where his son was buried and trying to gather the strength to go see him. Unable to handle this behavior along with her own grief, his wife divorced him and left to parts unknown.
Alone and rapidly self-destructing, Harvey finally found a stroke of luck when he passed out drunk on the side of the road just as Linkara happened to be filming nearby. The concerned critic called for help, and then went the extra mile and stuck with Harvey, making sure he got the help he needed. Harvey got sober, started singing again, and eventually ended up sharing an apartment with Linkara and a few others. He managed to avoid most of the kid's strangeness for a while - he had enough issues without robots and magic - but finally got caught up in it during the evil robot Mechakara's first attack. Initially, he joined his housemates in attempting to fend the cyborg off. Once it became clear that his bullets were useless, however, he joined everyone but Linkara in fleeing the scene.
That was the last time he'd ever leave the kid in the lurch. By the time the name of Lord Vyce first began to crop up, Harvey had become a much more solid member of the team. After Linkara's kidnapping, he stuck close to home, helping Pollo manage the show, counseling Iron Liz and fighting off the Shades that beamed down along with Linkara when he returned. He was there after Vyce beat Linkara too, though he left that matter to Liz, seeing correctly that only she could really help him. When the final battle against the dimensional conqueror came, he stayed and fought, encouraging the others to keep getting up after they were knocked down. Harvey didn't agree with Linkara's final decision to exile Vyce rather than executing him, but he went along with it.
After Vyce was defeated, things returned to normal for a little while. Harvey restarted his weekly karaoke nights, the gang hung out, and all was well. Until the Ninja-Style Dancer disappeared. Shortly after this, Harvey himself happened across the Book of the Entity. Looking it over, he realized what it was: MISSINGNO. (Secretly, Harvey is a huge Pokemon nerd. :P) But it was too late; before he could warn anyone of what he'd discovered, the Entity itself arrived and absorbed him. He wasn't seen again until after its defeat, but he seemed to recover fairly quickly from the experience.
Of course, that was what happened in the main Atop the Fourth Wall universe. This time around, Harvey took a little bit of a detour. Instead of being consumed by the Entity - or maybe as a result of it - he woke up on the Satellite of Love, which had been stealing people from all sorts of dimensions, more or less at random. Luckily for him, Linkara, Iron Liz, and 90s Kid were already there, helping him settle in quite comfortably.
Things didn't stay good forever. Eventually, Linkara disappeared. The events of the Satellite weren't always kind to Harvey either; he had his voice and his friends stolen by Discord, faced down Missingno once more whilst in the form of a Pokemon, lost 90s Kid to a marauding Velociraptor, and died once himself by encountering a basilisk. Obviously, all of this simply made him even more protective of his kids, absolutely unwilling to lose either of the two he had left. This occasionally caused conflict between himself and Liz, who was certainly more than capable of defending herself, but in the end the two ended up growing closer and even acknowledging that they considered each other family.
The most traumatic incident came when the Satellite moved into a mirror universe, instantly turning Harvey evil along with a good number of the Satellite's residents. Having been turned into the exact opposite of everything he was, Harvey quickly discovered a new sadistic streak, which he took out first on his pet rabbit Frank and then on Liz. Luckily, he was stopped quickly and spent most of his time in that universe restrained, but he still felt terrible guilt afterwards for what he had done. Everyone he'd hurt was quick to forgive him, but he was the only one who knew exactly how horrible a person he'd become, and he could easily see the few key points where his mirror counterpart's early life had diverged from his own, making each version who they were. In his mind, the two were far too close.
Luckily, these were the end days of the Satellite of Love. The random and wild happenings brought about by the Twin-Screw Universal Controller quickly allowed him to once again repress his emotions and focus on what was immediately at hand. Some of it was pretty weird, like the time they all almost invested their life savings in steam-powered weavers, but the group finally managed to all return to their own respective dimensions before anything too catastrophic occurred.
Harvey's time on the Satellite also made him rather more tolerant of strange happenings than he had been. Between living with Linkara and the weirdness that happened up there, there's very little that can really faze him anymore. Hell, he's died before; he can take whatever's thrown at him now. Oh, and he did adopt a pet bunny named Frank, in what was practically the only unashamedly good part of his AU. Having to take care of an adorably fuzzy pet has made him slightly better about acknowledging his softer side, though he hasn't improved much in regards to actually talking about his feelings. Unfortunately, as jamjar residents tend to do, he forgot about all of it upon returning from the Satellite after the Entity's defeat, and quickly moved on with his life.
After the Entity, there was another short period of calm. Lord Vyce returned, which very nearly resulted in Pollo's death, but Harvey was traveling for a good deal of that, and was only on hand during the final confrontation, where it was revealed that he held one of two self-destruct codes for Comicron One. He was, however, present for the arrival of the next antagonist: the Gunslinger.
Almost immediately after the Gunslinger's arrival, Linkara's magic stopped working. Against Harvey's (incredibly vehement) advice, he went off on a quest to find out why, leaving a holographic copy of himself in his place. This copy quickly grew cruel and cold towards the living people in the apartment, beginning with a threat to crush 90s Kid's heart. Harvey did his best to defend his friends against it, but even with the technical advice of Pollo and Dr. Linksano, there was little any of them could do; had Linkara not come back in the nick of time, the hologram likely would have killed them all. Once the threat was vanquished, the team went out for Dairy Queen, seemingly all happy to move on from the incident.
But Harvey hadn't forgotten. He was just pretending everything was fine, and eventually maybe it would have been, had it not been for what happened that October. For no reason any of them could divine, Linkara, 90s Kid, Linksano, and Harvey found themselves unable to leave their apartment. The protective spells over the place prevented them from breaking out, and calls to the outside didn't work. They were trapped.
As time passed, tempers started to fray. Harvey was the first to snap, insulting the others and hurling accusations that one of them was to blame for this somehow. Everyone else quickly became angry and paranoid as well; by the time 90s Kid noticed the mysterious shadow haunting the apartment, Linkara and Harvey were in a vicious shouting match, both with weapons drawn. The two broke apart and instantly joined forces in trying to drive off the intruder, which was revealed as an entity brought by the Gunslinger, which was capable of lowering people's inhibitions and possibly inducing anger.
But the damage was not so easily healed as that. Harvey missed the family meeting afterwards, feeling that the others wouldn't want to see him after what he'd said and done. After it was done, he went to speak to Linkara alone. While the kid was willing to let everything go, dismissing it as all a result of the Gunslinger's manipulation, Harvey couldn't. He confessed that in the heat of the moment, he'd been so angry that he was willing to shoot Linkara dead. At the time, even he didn't realize exactly why he'd been so pissed; he just knew that he'd almost lost control. Unable to deal with that guilt, he left to go on tour, without telling when - if ever - he might return. (Of course, regaining his AU memories and recalling that he'd gone through almost this exact same thing with Liz, except with actual violence involved, will not be helping him any.)
Personality: Harvey's about as smooth as a lounge singer ought to be, with just a dash of cockiness on the side. He’s proud of his talents and he's not shy about talking himself up to others, especially dames. Luckily, his confidence is well-placed - he's actually very good at what he does. He doesn’t just perform for the attention, either; he genuinely loves the music. Despite being a performer, he's actually somewhat reserved when it comes to his personal life. He's friendly enough, even if occasionally rather blunt, but it takes him a while to actually consider someone a real friend. Even then he's always sparing with personal details; it seems he's got a few things in his past he doesn't like talking about...
He's very loyal and protective towards the friends he does have. Though he’s rather private and tends to spend a lot of time off taking care of his own business, he’ll always have their back if they get into trouble, no matter how dangerous the situation. He even finally agreed to start carrying a cell phone around, despite not liking the things, just so that he'd always be in reach. Harvey’s also quite perceptive when it comes to people and their issues. He tends to be able to identify the root of his friends’ problems, and his advice is always good. These talents only particularly apply to those he cares about. He's nice enough, but he doesn't always have the patience to try to sit down and counsel a stranger through their troubles. Actual physical danger provokes a similarly pragmatic attitude from him; he'd help someone out, but he's not about to go getting himself killed defending someone he doesn't even know just because it's the heroic thing to do. He's friends with enough heroes to know that he isn't one. Children are the exception - he'll always put his life on the line for a kid, no matter who they are. When it comes to them, or his friends and family, he can be downright stupidly self-sacrificing.
As dependable as he is, Harvey also depends very heavily on those around him. The loss of his son and wife left him pretty much emotionally crippled, and only the bonds he's formed with his new friends kept him from completely self-destructing. He keeps most of this hidden very well, to the point where it takes prolonged influence from an inhibition-lowering entity for him to let out any sign of his true emotions. He doesn't like showing it, but he can barely cope with even the thought of losing the people he loves again. When things do get emotional for him, he'll generally try to go off and work through things alone, even though he hates being isolated. He just can't let anyone see him that vulnerable.
Basically, Harvey takes care of his people, most of all when times get tough. He knows what it is to hit rock bottom, and he won't let that happen to anyone else he cares about.
Since his time on the Satellite of Love, he's only become even more protective of his friends, often to an unrealistic degree. At one point, he even locked Liz in her room to keep her away from a fight he was going into; obviously, this just pissed her off. The constant threat of horrible danger popping in from nowhere left him rather paranoid, but at the same time he became wearily resigned to the strangeness of his new life. The Satellite could be dangerous, but it wasn't always; half the time, it would just turn your hair pink or something. At first, Harvey was indignant at constantly being jerked around by forces outside his control, but eventually he just utterly gave up and stopped worrying so much about his pride. He just rolls with the punches as well as he can, now, and rarely questions why the weirdness is happening anymore. Pink hair's still embarrassing, but he now takes a much more tolerant view of harmless pranks, reasoning that it could always have been worse. Honestly, it's probably better for his blood pressure.
The fact that he was pretty much trapped on the station, without much real privacy, also forced him to become a little more open about himself. In previous days, he probably still would've adopted his pet rabbit, but he would have kept Frank at home and never let any of his business associates know that he loved a fluffy bunny. On the Satellite...well, he just had to deal with everyone knowing about his soft side, and eventually he became accustomed to it.
At the same time, he's also more accepting of others. Even though he lived with Linkara and experienced all the weirdness that that entails, Harvey'd always tended to be leery of any magic or strange alien technology, preferring to stick with his trusty old tommygun. People from other worlds were definitely suspicious, seeing as all the ones he'd ever met before instantly tried to kill him. Obviously, the Satellite disabused him of both these notions fairly quickly. Having made friends with a wolf-shaped sun goddess pretty much takes away any right to judge someone based on the weird world they hail from.
Strengths: He doesn't trust too easily, but once you're Harvey's friend, he'll do absolutely anything for you. Whether you like it or not, even. He's determined to the point of stubbornness, which can be a strength or a weakness depending on the situation. It takes a lot to really scare him, especially since he's been exposed to the strangeness of Linkara's household, and he can adapt pretty readily to almost any situation. Not necessarily without complaint, but still.
Weaknesses: Harvey's a very private person, to an occasionally unhealthy degree. He's proud too; for all his concern about taking care of his friends, he'll never so much as let on that he might have problems of his own until it's completely unavoidable. Obviously, this is far from a good thing; the man's proven his coping mechanisms are not the healthiest. He's been sober for a few years now, but an alcoholic is never fully recovered and he still has to watch himself, particularly during times of stress or loneliness. Isolation is particularly hard on him. He's lost one family, and he could never bear to lose a second. Truthfully, he associates Linkara with his dead son to a rather unhealthy degree, which at this point in his canon has pretty much caused something of a remarkably well-concealed breakdown.
He also has something of a violent temper, and due to some bad experiences in his past has a few problems with authority figures. On the slightly more humorous side, he's not very good with technology. Like, at all.
